UM Mess will Get Uglier
In the Missoulian last week. I made several comments predictiing the rape and coverup mess at the University of Montana will get much worse and uglier.
I've lived in Missoula for a long time and I've heard rumors of UM football players getting away with all kinds of things where the UM administration and local law enforcement have looked the other way. I think it finally reached the tipping point and we are going to find out a lot of very ugly and seriously disturbing things in the coming months.
I am shocked, but not suprised, that rape and sexual assault have been tolerated at the U, protecting type of student over another (football player over women). I am the father of two daughters and a son and fear for my girls and am glad one is out of UM and one is attending another U.
I warned those who are defending the U and the behavior of the few who are destroying its reputation to hang on because we haven't seen the half of what is going to happen yet.

Script of Obama's "Jobs" Speech Tonight
Blah blah blah George Bush's fault blah blah blah raise taxes on millionaires and billionaires blah blah blah blah spend $400 billion on jobs program blah blah blah blah obstructionist Republicans blah blah blah blah union union union.
Too bad for him nobody will be watching. He has nothing new to say and there are far more important things to do - like watching the football pregame show.

Obama vs. Boehner over "Jobs" Speech
Interesting development with the scheduling of Obama's "Jobs" speech. Obama is playing games by scheduling his speech on the same night - Wednesday - that the GOP was holding a nationally televised debate between the eight candidates running to save our country from destruction. Obama wants to give the speech to Congress which means he needs the House chambers to do it. Boehner, showing some backbone, responded by telling Obama that Thursday would be better since the House 's schedule is not dictated by the President. The House goes into session ant 6:30 on Wednesday and there is not enough time to prepare for Obama's request for the 8:00 speech.
Obviously, Obama is trying to upstage the GOP debate and I'm pleased that Boehner sees through it and is fighting for the debate. We all know Obama's "Jobs" speech will be no different than any of the seven other jobs speeches he has given since he was president. He will call for increased government spending and increased taxes on the millionaires and billionaires. We also all know that this plan won't work any better than any of his other failed policies and plans. So it really is no big deal that he moves his speech to Thursday. The man is an incompetent joke. I hope Boehner sticks to it and refuses him the Wednesday night request.
I'll be watching the Packers/Saints game on Thursday because I already know what Obama is going to say.

Congratulations Griz! ...and Cats!
Congratulations to the Griz who defeated the Cats on Saturday in a hard fought 13-7 victory. The day was a perfect day for football and the crowd at Washington-Grizzly was a record breaking 24,018!
I got goose bumps when the F-16 Fighter Jets from Great Falls flew over the stadium during the National Anthem.
The Griz were seeded number 2 and get home field throughout the playoffs and play McNeese State this Saturday.
And as a bonus, the Cats made the playoffs as an at-large selection and are hosting Furman next week. So the State of Montana has two 1-AA playoff games this Saturday. What a great accomplishment for Montana football.

Griz/Cat or is it Cat/Griz
Big game tomorrow. The biggest show in Montana. The Brawl of the Wild is in Missoula this year and the Big Sky Championship is on the line.
Both teams are looking good with the Griz thumping Northern Colorado last week and the Cats having the week off to heal and prepare.
Both teams are on a roll going into tomorrow's game so it can go either way.
I'll be in the stadium watching so I'm looking forward to a fantastic game between two of the Big Sky and the 1-AA's finest.
