Gore Desperate to Convince us of Climate Change Lie

Famous phony science propagandist, Al Gore is attempting to convince us who believe in logic and real science that humans are the cause of climate change.
"24 Hours of Reality" will broadcast a presentation by Al Gore every hour for 24 hours across 24 different time zones from Wednesday to Thursday, with the aim of convincing climate change deniers and driving action against global warming among households, schools and businesses.
According to the article, "he has 200 new slides arguing the connection between more extreme weather and climate change." Wow, 200 new slides. Wake me up when it's over.

He can argue all he wants but the bottom line is there is still ZERO scientific proof that humans cause global warming. There is nothing but theory based on flawed and incomplete computer models. I have said it hundreds of times before that extreme climate change has occurred on Earth for millions and millions of years and will continue millions and millions of years into the future.

There can only be one reason for the Left's insistence on promoting their lie of what causes climate change. They want to control what people do in the name of protecting the climate.

Another Failed Solar Company

Another "green energy" company has failed.  Solyndra, a solar panel manufacturer, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy eve after heavy government subsidies and load guarantees.  It was only 15 days ago when I posted about another heavily subsidized solar company, Evergreen Solar, declaring bankruptcy.

I've said it  hundreds of times.  There is no scientific or economical way that solar and wind will ever replace fossil fuel for electricity generation.  It is impossible no matter how much money the government throws at it - as evidenced by these two recent failures.  The free market is the best way to determine.

As the WSJ Review and Outlook section stated:
Solyndra's story is more evidence that trendy, politically directed investments don't make for efficient allocation of capital.  Beyond the immediate losses, they mean the money wasn't available for market-directed investment with a better chande to succeed.  This is how you get a 1% recovery.

Climate Change and Liberal Logic

The Earth's climate changes.
Humans live on the Earth.
Therefore, humans cause the climate to change on Earth.

Proof Why Wind Power Can't Replace Fossil Fuels

Here is a link to the Bonneville Power Administration Balancing Authority Load and Total Wind, Hydro, and Thermal (Fossil Fuels) in near real time.

Note how wind (the blue line) only produces electricity when it blows. Also note how when the wind does blow, there is little to no reduction of hydro and thermal.

Podcast Episode 4 Andy's Journey from Liberal Leaning to the Conservative he is Today

This is my first episode without a script, scary! I have a silly intro then go into my journey from being a Liberal leaning moderate to the Conservative I am today. I finish up with a bit of a ramble on debate which I plan on exploring further in a future episode.

British Court Finds 11 Inaccuracies in Gore's Movie

A British court found that Al Gore's movie Inconvenient Truth contains 11 inaccuracies that must be reported to school children by their teachers before they view the movie.

The 11 inaccuracies are:

  • The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
  • The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
  • The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that it was “not possible” to attribute one-off events to global warming.
  • The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case.
  • The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
  • The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
  • The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
  • The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
  • The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.
  • The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
  • The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

Global Warming Denier!

Jeff Jacoby from the Boston Globe wrote a great column about Newsweek's August 13 cover story on Global Warming denial. Newsweek takes the easy route and accuses the "deniers" or "doubters" as being aligned with big coal and big oil in an effort to discredit them. Their story is an weak attempt to discredit anybody who doubts that man causes global warming. Interestingly, they bring up the reporting they did in 1975 when they claimed global cooling was the threat to our planet but they quickly dismiss it because there wasn't near the "consensus" there is today regarding global warming.

Mr. Jacoby takes them on Newsweek citing their doomsday reporting on global cooling in 1975.

Then, the magazine reported that scientists were "almost unanimous" in believing that the looming Big Chill would mean a decline in food production, with some warning that "the resulting famines could be catastrophic." Moreover, it said, "the evidence in support of these predictions" -- everything from shrinking growing seasons to increased North American snow cover -- had "begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it."

He also goes into the their tactic of discrediting "doubters" as bought and paid for lackeys of industry.

anyone skeptical of the claim that human activity is causing global warming is painted as a bought-and-paid-for lackey of the coal and oil industries -- so strident and censorious? Why the relentless labeling of those who point out weaknesses in the global-warming models as "deniers," or agents of the "denial machine," or deceptive practitioners of "denialism?" Wouldn't it be more effective to answer the challengers, some of whom are highly credentialed climate scientists in their own right, with scientific data and arguments, instead of snide insinuations of venality and deceit? Do Newsweek and Begley really believe that everyone who dissents from the global-warming doomsaying does so in bad faith?
My favorite paragraph touches on the scientific process and how humans causing global warming is still only just a hypothesis.

Anthropogenic global warming is a scientific hypothesis, not an article of religious or ideological dogma. Skepticism and doubt are entirely appropriate in the realm of science, in which truth is determined by evidence, experimentation, and observation, not by consensus or revelation. Yet when it comes to global warming, dissent is treated as heresy -- as a pernicious belief whose exponents must be shamed, shunned, or silenced.

He also talks about how many who support this hypothesis want to have debate shut down and silence those who dispute that human activity causes global warming.

Some environmentalists and commentators have suggested that global-warming "denial" be made a crime, much as Holocaust denial is in some countries. Others have proposed that climate-change dissidents be prosecuted in Nuremberg-style trials. The Weather Channel's Heidi Cullen has suggested that television meteorologists be stripped of their American Meteorological Society certification if they dare to question predictions of catastrophic global warming.
This made me think. Because of their intense desire to shut down the debate on what is clearly only a hypothesis they are not terribly confident that this hypothesis can withstand serious and thoughtful scrutiny. In other words, if they were 100% confident that humans caused global warming, they should welcome any and all debate and evidence for or against it, knowing that when all evidence is in, it will be proven to be a fact.

I Support the Tangerine Industry

Elizabeth Edwards is taking the big step and making the huge sacrifice to stop eating tangerines in order to save the planet from global warming. Being a capitalist, I immediately became concerned about the Tangerine Industry.

So on my way home this evening, I stopped by the store and bought a bag of tangerines to help offset the damage that the Edwards family's sacrifice will bring on the Tangerine Industry. I figure one bag ought to do it.

I am glad to see the Edwards family is finally starting to walk the walk and do their part in reducing global warming. The sacrifice they are making in giving up tangerines will be difficult, I'm sure, but at least they are trying. Now when Elizabeth's husband, John, I think it is, speaks about global warming, he will have total credibility.

Update: I pasted all the non-spam comments as a single comment.

Global Warming and Global Cooling Crisis Since 1895

The Business & Media Institute came out with a report called Fire & Ice back in May 2006 that chronicled the MSM's reporting of climate change, both Global Cooling and Global Warming, since 1895.

1895-1932 GLOBAL COOLING -First, in 1895, the New York Times warned their readers of the looming dangers of the new ice age where billions would die.

1929 - 1969 GLOBAL WARMING - The Global Cooling dangers lasted until the late 1920's when Global Warming became the danger. The MSM reported how the nation has entered into the "longest warm spell since 1776" The New York Times in 1959 reported that glaciers were melting in Alaska and the ice in the Arctic ocean is about half as thick as it was in the late nineteenth century. They also reported in 1960 that "the Arctic pack is is thinning and that the ocean at the North pole may become an open sea withing a decade of two". Sound familiar?

1954 - 1976 GLOBAL COOLING - There seems to be some overlap between these periods as the MSM moved back to Global Cooling. They predicted billions of people dying again. In 1970 the Washington Post told readers to " get a good grip on your long johns, cold weather haters - the worst may be yet to come". Fortune Magazine ran a story that said "As for the present cooling trend a number of leading climatologists have concluded that it is very bad news indeed" it continued with " It is the root cause of a lot of that unpleasant weather around the world and they warn that it carries the potential for human disasters of unprecedented magnitude".

Present - GLOBAL WARMING - Now we are in the current situation of being in a Global Warming crisis with Al Gore leading the way. "Our ability to live is what is at stake"

So you see, weather on this planet fluctuates. It always has and it always will.

It's done it for billions of years and humans have nothing to do with it.

Do As I Say...

...not as I do.

The world's most famous environmental alarmist, Al Gore, wants Americans to stop consuming energy in order to save the planet. But guess what? He shouldn't have to. The Tennessee Center for Policy Research released Gore's utility bills for the last two years and the gas and electric bills for the former vice president's 20-room home and pool house devoured nearly 221,000 kilowatt-hours in 2006, more than 20 times the national average of 10,656 kilowatt-hours.

If Gore truly believes in what he is preaching, I would think he should at least try to conserve even a little. I don't know but that's just me.

This solidifies my belief that these people are doing this for political reasons and know that humans causing global warming is junk science.

Thanks for the proof, Al.

Increase In Ethanol Use Will Cause Food Shortage

In the Liberal world of Unintended Consequences comes this.

As we try to reduce our dependence on oil and increase the use of ethanol in order to save the planet from global warming which will destroy the planet, we are creating a shortage in corn creating a food shortage for the poor of the world.

Perhaps now Liberals will admit their claim that humans cause global warming is junk science and actually their way of instituting more government control over our economy and lives.

Do we really want to create world hunger and starvation rather then drill for oil in Anwar and the Gulf of Mexico? I don't.

I am pro oil and anti hunger.

After Extensive Research, Scientists Discover That Trees Grow Back!

A team of researchers in Europe, the United States and Asia, have concluded after an exhaustive study that trees grow back. This should be good news for the Global Warming doomsday crowd but some still caution these surprising and shocking results.

But some experts reacted with caution to the results. The lack of good data on forests in many parts of the world means that it is hard to be confident about the study’s “positive indications of an important change,” said Peter Holmgren, chief of forest resources development at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome.
He noted that much of the data for the new study was provided by governments, which he says do not do a good job of measuring forests, or by aerial surveillance, which is notoriously unreliable.

“There are trends that these guys have observed that seem true, but it’s difficult to state for certain,” Mr. Holmgren said. “Is there a global paradigm change? We really don’t know yet.” He called for countries to undertake systematic forest inventories.

The study also points out that countries that are growing wealthier or are the wealthiest are increasing their forests.

The reversal is partly a result of social changes that occur as countries develop and become wealthier, the study said. For example, as rural dwellers move to the cities there are fewer people in the countryside to cut down trees for uses like heating and building.

A vast majority of the richer and more developed countries had more forest area and denser forests in 2005 than in 1990. In the United States and Western Europe the transition began decades ago, but it has increased rapidly in the last 15 years, the researchers found.

So modernization and industrialization seems to benefit the planet through the reforestation. Strange!

I'm glad there was a study to determine that trees grow back. I always wondered.

It's nice to see that now the Democrats are in charge of our government they have solved the Global Warming issue so soon! This story would never have been run had there been a Republican victory.

We Do Not Cause Global Warming

I have heard a lot of noise about how humans, particularly Americans, are the cause of global warming. I have yet to be convinced, however, that this is the case. All I have heard are theories, doom and gloom. Show me the proof.

Global warming and global cooling have occurred on this planet for millions and millions of years. It's a naturally occurring cycle. And we are in a naturally occurring warming cycle right now, the end of a mini ice age.

With this said, I consider myself an environmentalist. I enjoy, promote and encourage a clean and healthy environment with clean air, crystal clear rivers and lakes. This is why I live in Missoula Montana!

To say humans are causing global warming makes no sense to me. The eruptions of Mount Pinatubo in 1991 and El Chichon in 1982 put more pollutants in the air than humans and our automobiles ever have. Even the fires in Montana since 2000 contribute. But guess what, the planet cleans it up very nicely and efficiently.

The goal of the the Al Gore global warming crowd is to impose more government control on businesses and the population. By frightening people that they are causing the future doom of the planet, they can easily impose more control and restrictions on us.

Common sense, to me, dictates that we are not causing the current warming trend. It is simply another cycle that has been going on for millions of years. I certainly don't advocate trashing the planet but let's not go overboard and try to fix something that we are not causing and are incapable of fixing.

Where Are All The Hurricanes?

After all the hurricanes last year and the liberal environmentalists telling us they were caused by global warming. They told us we would have just as bad a year or worse this year. Well, where is it? There was only one which didn't amount to anything. This goes to show that we simply cannot predict the way the earth operates regardless of all the computers, satellites and experts. The earth does what it does despite us humans. The liberal environmentalists need to understand this and quit trying to control natural human behavior by creating doomsday predictions. We are going through a natural warming cycle on this planet. These have happened many times in the millions and millions of years of this planet's existence. It's common sense.

Gore's Inconvenient "Truth"

Here is an article in USA Today about Gore's hypocrisy regarding global warming. As most liberals, he should be exempt from what he wants others to do. He is of the class that deserves the comforts and profits from the things he claims causes global warming. The rest of us should make the sacrifices.

Here are my favorite parts of the article...

For someone who says the sky is falling, he does very little. He says he recycles and drives a hybrid. And he claims he uses renewable energy credits to offset the pollution he produces when using a private jet to promote his film. (In reality, Paramount Classics, the film's distributor, pays this.)

Public records reveal that as Gore lectures Americans on excessive consumption, he and his wife Tipper live in two properties: a 10,000-square-foot, 20-room, eight-bathroom home in Nashville, and a 4,000-square-foot home in Arlington, Va. (He also has a third home in Carthage, Tenn.) For someone rallying the planet to pursue a path of extreme personal sacrifice, Gore requires little from himself.

Typical.
