I want to welcome Treasure State Politics to the Conservative Montana Blog family. I just discovered it by reading about it in the Missoulian, of all places.

It also looks like they are on their way of being the leading voice in Montana in Conservative blogging and I look forward to seeing their growth. Makes me proud to see young, smart and hard working young folks proudly expressing their Conservative values and principles. The blog is very well done and I envy the contributor's writing skill and talent.  I will be a regular reader.

What Democrats Secretly Fear - Sarah Palin

I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin and have been since she ran as McCain's running mate back in 2008.  I love the crowds she draws whether they are the regular folk or the MSM who all "hate" her yet can't seem to get enough of her.  I love how unconventional she is. I love the passion she has for our country.  I love that she is just a regular woman who graduated from a regular university, got married to her high school sweetheart and raised her kids. She hunts, she fishes, she's just a badass.

She's inspirational.  She's hard working. She's tough as nails.  She takes no shit.  She loves this country. She loves and believes in the citizens of the country. She believes in American Exceptionalism.  All things the current President does not have.

Obama's Bus Tour Pushing American Jobs (US Taxpayer Paid Bus Built in Canada)

I just read that the bus in which Obama is campaigning on the taxpayers touring the heartland of America stressing job growth was built in Canada.  

The contract lists the country of origin as Canada and place of manufacture as "outside U.S. - Trade Agreements," a possible reference to the North American Free Trade Agreement.

I'm sure the Canadians appreciated the work.  They, by the way, have recently implemented Conservative policies and are doing quite well these days despite all the economic problems happening in Europe and the US because of Liberal policies.  

The Hammond Report's Five Year Anniversary

The Hammond Report went dark a few months after Obama became president back in the dark days of 2008-2009 and I let the URL expire and lost all my posts from October 2007 on.  I was so disgusted and dispirited along with changing careers that I simply did not have the motivation or time to keep the blog going and active.

I've made a few posts in June and July of 2010, December 2010, June 2011 and finally seem to have the motivation and time to be more active in posting.  I redesigned the site and plan on just maintaining my blogger site and not worry about having my own URL, especially since some Realtor now owns it and hasn't posted since May 2010.  

I was playing around reformatting my site and adding some new widgets and took a look at my archive and realized that I started it in July of 2006.  So I've been at it now for five years - plus a month.

At this time, I feel like I got a rhythm going and am enjoying putting up posts.  It is enjoyable seeing what an enormous failure Obama has become and how completely incompetent he and his administration is.  I am sad for the country but happy that through it all the Tea Party was born and the 2010 election started righting the ship.  I am excited about the GOP candidates running for President or who might be running.  I am also excited to see GOP run states like Wisconsin,Ohio, Texas, New Jersey, and Florida prove that Conservative policies do, in fact, work.  I'm excited to see Denny Rehberg run for senate and look forward to voting for him as he defeats Tester.

Things are looking so much better.  It will be a fun year and a half.

The riots in England have been going on the past several days.  I just have to wonder what ideology those rioters follow - Liberal or Conservative?

Liberal Intolerance in The Missoulian LTE

In today's Missoulian LTE section, is a letter from a woman attacking intolerance.  Her screed is against Conservatives.  A weak and ignorant mind can see the fault in others but can't see any in themselves.

And let's not neglect to mention you tea party characters who, along with the former president's regime, are ruining or have ruined this country. Or have the nerve to blame President Barack Obama, like he somehow magically reached back into the past and pulled all the strings to create the depression we now, er, enjoy.

You embarrass yourselves, all of you. Let me remind you of Cathy Kulonis' quote in Monday's (August 8) letters: "If my people turn from their wicked ways, then I will heal their land." Did it ever occur to you self-righteous right-wingers that you are the wicked ones? Or are you too busy nosing around in your neighbor's life.  

She is clearly mad and upset but through her fog of anger, she fails to see her own intolerance.  I find it funny that she even continues to blame President Bush for all the problems we are experiencing today despite the clear evidence that it is Obama and his fellow Liberals running Congress that have caused our severe problems today.

These people are dangerous and irrational.  Anybody who can, with a straight face, claim that Obama is doing a good job and the continued destruction of the economy is Bush's fault, is being dishonest or is plain stupid.  

I am pleased to see several commenters agree with me in calling the LTE writer out on her own intolerance   

Obama's Third "Summer of Recovery"

With today's horrible economic report, even the staunchest Liberals have got to start admitting Obama's and his policies are a complete failure.  I know they won't because they are completely blind to their ideology but it is as clear as day in front of us every day.  Even the MSM is starting to crack a bit as they see they can no longer hold up the lies of the promised recovery.

The frightening thing is Obama seems completely unphased about what is happening and is doubling down on his proven failed policies.  This can lead to only one conclusion - he is destroying this country's economy on purpose.  Government stimulus does not nor has it ever worked.  It is akin to taking water from the deep end of a swimming pool and pouring it into the shallow end.  The water does not rise.

2012 cannot get here soon enough.  I pray the GOP nominates a candidate with some guts who will say what needs to be said and is strong enough with withstand the attacks from the Left and their MSM partners.

THR 2.0, back at it...

After a long time off, I've decided to jump back into political blogging. I let my domain name expire and it now belongs to a Realtor. Not a big deal since I'm just going to fire up my old Blogger account which suits my current needs just fine. I discovered a lot of new functionality and flexibility with Blogger since I last used it in 2007 and I'm pretty happy with it.

After leaving blogging, I've been hanging out at the Missoulian's Letters to the Editor section, stirring things up by commenting on many of the ignorant Liberal letters (like this one, for instance). It's been satisfying to a degree but I'm limited to the content of the letters. I've found myself wanting to express myself more fully and decided to turn back to my blog. So here I am again.

I updated my blog's look and renamed it to THR 2.0.

The Truth About Big Oil

One of the issues in the House Democrat’s “famous” First 100 Hours is they have decided to attack Big Oil. It continues to confirm the fact that Liberals simply do not understand economics or business and instead, propose legislation that seriously will hurt our economy.

In their proposed legislation, they want to raise taxes on domestic oil producers and use that tax to subsidize alternative energy sources like ethanol, solar, wind, etc. This, of course, will increase the cost of our domestic oil which will lower its demand and increase the demand and imports of OPEC oil.

Democrats like to claim that Big Oil is ripping off taxpayers through deals they negotiated with the government regarding royalty payments from oil taken from the Gulf of Mexico. In 1998-99, the Clinton Administration signed leases for drilling rights in the Gulf. At the time, the price of oil per barrel was around $10. I believe there were negotiations regarding royalty payments if the price exceeded $35 per barrel but that clause was omitted for some reason. Upon investigation from the Interior Department’s Inspector General, it was determined to be a bureaucratic “snafu” by the Clinton Administration.

A few of the companies alerted the Dept of Interior about the omission and were willing to renegotiate, but were told to go ahead. I guess the thinking was it was not big deal since the price per barrel was so low then. Now that the price is over $60 and was $70, Big Oil is being accused of cheating us poor taxpayers.

The oil companies and the Dept of Interior negotiated and signed contracts in 1998-99. Big Oil made million dollar decisions based on those contracts. Why do the Democrats want to renege a contract that their administration, Clinton, negotiated?

And according to this WSJ Article they are wrong about trying to take away Big Oil “tax breaks” from the 2005 Energy Bill.

Democrats also want to raise about $5 to $6 billion by snatching away alleged tax breaks for Big Oil in the Republicans' 2005 energy bill. Sorry, that isn't true either. The Congressional Research Service reports that the net impact of the 2005 energy bill was to raise taxes on the oil and gas industry by $300 million. Nor does it make sense to repeal a domestic oil company's eligibility for a 2004 tax cut that reduced the effective corporate income tax rate to 32% from 35% on U.S. manufacturers. This tax cut increases the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturers that are now penalized by a U.S. corporate tax rate that is among the highest in the industrialized world. Our objection is that every U.S. company should pay the same, lower rate.

I wish Democrats would stop playing politics and try to understand how the economy and business work in the real world. Then they would be Conservatives.

I saw this funny quote from political satirist, P.J. O'Rourke in a Wall Street Journal interview on Saturday.

"Conservatives generally tend to be funnier in their private lives," he explains, "because of the hypocrisy factor. I am of course a big fan of hypocrisy, because hypocrites at least know the difference between right and wrong -- at any rate, know enough to lie about what they're doing. Liberals are not nearly as hypocritical as conservatives, because they don't know the difference between right and wrong."

More Evidence That "Bipartisanship" and "Compromise" Mean the Liberal Way

The Iraq Commission report that was released yesterday is further evidence and proof that bipartisanship and compromise means to go the Liberal way of thinking.

The report basically says we screwed up, continue to screw up, are losing the war, cannot possibly win, and must pull out to save face. The spineless Republicans on the Commission completely caved in to their Democrat colleagues. It's especially frustrating when Republicans like these are touting bipartisan and compromise and bringing the American people together when all they are doing is caving in to the Liberal point of view.

Compromise means to settle differences through mutual concessions. What have the Democrats conceded?

The New York Post got it right. They slam the report! Appeasement and surrender will only make matters worse.

I'm hoping President Bush rejects this report and continues to fight the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan.

MT GOP Votes Conservatives Into House Leadership

The Montana GOP voted one of it's most conservative members as Speaker of the House. Scott Sales from Bozeman is the right man to lead the party back to prominence in the Montana government.

It's a relief that the House Republicans see the reason they have been weakened. They fell for the Liberal and Moderate call for bipartisanship, compromise, and getting along. What Liberals mean by bipartisanship and compromise is to believe and support Liberal policies. While Moderates just go along with whatever sounds the least controversial.

Speaker-Elect Sales will be pushing forward bills that define them as Republicans - permanent property tax relief, harsher penalties for sex offenders, a "personal defense" bill, and giving parents more rights over a child's decision to have an abortion.

He is also going to try to make some cuts on Schweitzer's $700 million, a 22% budget increase!

To the Republicans in the State House and Senate, fight for what you stand for and for your core beliefs. Don't fall for the getting along bipartisanship smokescreen the Liberals and media promote. It's a one sided proposal where you are on the wrong side.

Democrats Hoping Conservative Dems Will Win

The Democratic party is putting their hopes on a bunch of Conservative Democrats to help them regain control of the House. According to this article, there are 16 pro-gun, pro-life, anti-tax democrats currently running.

I consider myself a Conservative first and would even vote for one of these people if they were genuinely more Conservative than the Republican candidate. What concerns me is the extreme Liberal Nancy Pelosi would become Leader.

I am happy to see, however, that some in the Democratic Party are looking to and supporting Conservatism. Warms my heart.
