A Tale of Two Scandals

Two scandals on two US Senators broke yesterday. One was on Republican Larry Craig which I'm sure everybody has heard about. The other was on Democrat and leading Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Senator Craig was busted and pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in connection with soliciting gay sex in a airport restroom from an undercover cop. Craig is a Republican who has voted against "gay rights" including supporting his state's ban on gay marriage. It certainly smells of hypocracy and effectively "outs" the man as being gay. Liberals and the MSM are having a lot of fun with it and when you google Larry Craig as of this morning, there are over 1800 news stories about this scandal.

Senator Clinton's presidential campaign was hit with accusations of breaking campaign finance laws by the Wall Street Journal. It was discovered that one of the biggest contributers to Hillary's campaign is by a family of very modest means living in San Fransisco. They have managed to donate a total of $200,000 to her campaign.

Interestingly, the Paw family donations seem to be closely tied to wealthy Clinton supporter and businessman Normon Hsu.

The Paws' political donations closely track donations made by Norman Hsu, a wealthy New York businessman in the apparel industry who once listed the Paw home as his address, according to public records. Mr. Hsu is one of the top fund-raisers for Mrs. Clinton's presidential campaign. He has hosted or co-hosted some of her most prominent money-raising events.
In addition the Paw family seems to not be terribly interested in politics until recently.

William and Alice Paw are of Chinese descent. The entire family got their Social Security cards in California in 1982, according to state records. All but one of the Paws registered to vote as "nonpartisan." A San Mateo County elections official said that members of the Paw family vote "sporadically."

No one in the Paw family had ever given a campaign contribution before the 2004 presidential election, according to campaign-finance reports. Then, in July 2004, five members of the family contributed a total of $3,600 to the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat. Five of the checks were dated July 27, 2004. About the same time, Mr. Hsu made his first donations to a political candidate, contributing the maximum amount allowed by law to Mr. Kerry in two separate checks, on July 21, 2004, and on Aug. 6.

Even though it appears that campaign finance laws were clearly broken, the Clinton Campaign is planning on keeping the money. I am sure the MSM will support this while keeping up the aggressive reporting and distraction of Larry Craig's problems.

When you google Hillary Clinton Donor you get a total of 33 stories on the scandal.

Which is worse, a dirty old man trying to get a little in a restroom or a Presidential candidate breaking campaign finance laws to the tune of $200,000? According to the MSM, it's clearly the dirty old man.

  2. Exactly. What's the big deal?

I've also been thinking about his perceived hypocracy. They guy seems to enjoy anonymous gay bathroom sex but may not agree that gay marriage is a good thing. Is that being hypocritical? I'm not so sure.

  3. It is a big deal. Homosexuality is one of the worst diseases an individual or a society can suffer. Everybody knows it, including the liberals. But liberals will never show their secret disgust for homosexuals until one of them turns out to be a conservative. And there is your hypocrisy.

  4. WSJ: There is no public record or indication Mr. Hsu reimbursed the Paw family for their political contributions.

Bright Boy Hammond: Even though it appears that campaign finance laws were clearly broken,

You and I got an altogether differnt idear of what's *clear*, Andy.

  5. Dream on, Kailey. You’ve got a criminal for a candidate and you know it.

At the moment, she’s trying to give back $23,000 to Hsu, mainly because he’s been wanted on a felony warrant for 15 years! Ha ha ha. It’s just a matter of time before she tries to give back the illegal money to the Paws.

“Some donations connected to Mr. Hsu raise questions about his bundling activities, although there is no evidence he did anything improper. The Wall Street Journal reported that contributors he solicited included members of an extended family in Daly City, Calif., who had given $213,000 to candidates since 2004, even though some of them did not appear to have much money.” [The New York Times, 08/30/2007]

Maybe Hilary will “discover” that the Paws are poverty stricken and just send them some money out of the kindness of her heart. Ha ha ha.

  6. Kaily - We'll see how this plays out, won't we?

Seems pretty *clear* to me too.

  7. So where did the Paw family get their money from? Wulfgar? Buddhist monks? China?

  8. Oh yeah, poor Mr. Paw, the little hunched over Chinese mailman, trying to support his big family on his crappy salary. It took him and his whole family every penny they had, but they managed to scrape up $45,000 and send it to Hillary because they thought she was such a good lady.

Oooh, and look: Kennedy, Kerry, Boxer, Feinstein, Obama, and even Al “Mr. Talk Radio” Franken got some Chinese money, too. But now they don’t want it anymore if Hillary doesn’t want it anymore.

Tale of two scandals? How about 20? And all Democrats.

  9. I doubt if the liberal obsession with Sen. Craig is politically driven.

Liberals love anything dysfunctional, grotesque, or morally repugnant. Not only do they enjoy observing and discussing such things, but they often use abominations of nature or society to secretly reassure themselves that they are not the sickest creatures on the planet.

This is why liberals and the liberal media are transfixed by homosexual activity and obsessed over the Sen. Craig story.

  10. Everyone should read today’s Wall Street Journal story “MONEY TRAIL: Hsu Faces Probe of Fund Raising for Democrats.”

It is pretty obvious Hsu had no money of his own. He was an Asian ATM. The Peoples Republic of China put cash in the back, and the Democrats took the cash out the front.

  11. [Update 09/05/2007]

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - A top Democratic fundraiser whose criminal past has roiled the campaigns of top presidential candidates [Clinton & Obama] failed to appear Wednesday for a bail hearing and a judge issued a new warrant for his arrest.

Norman Hsu, who had been a fugitive for more than 15 years, forfeits the $2 million bail he posted last week. His attorney said Wednesday he didn't know where his client was.
