Will We Get a Knock at the Door in the Middle of the Night??

Edwards would require that we go to the doctor every year...
"It requires that everybody be covered. It requires that everybody get preventive care," he told a crowd sitting in lawn chairs in front of the Cedar County Courthouse. "If you are going to be in the system, you can't choose not to go to the doctor for 20 years. You have to go in and be checked and make sure that you are OK."
So what happens if I don't want to? Will there be a knock at my door in the middle of the night and will I be "taken" to the doctor for my annual "checkup"?

For those of you who are going to see him, please ask Mr. Edwards this when he's in Missoula.

  1. "If you are going to be in the system"

Since he said that, I would imagine that failing to comply would remove you from the system, not elicit a 'visit' in the middle of the night.

Are you really that paranoid or are you just crying wolf?

  3. *** Liberal Logic ***

Edwards: Everyone must be covered, and everyone must go to the doctor for a check up.

Natale: If you don’t go to the doctor for a check up, you will not be covered.

[Steve concurs. That makes sense to him, too!]

  4. [You have it right, Andy. Besides being absurd and wasteful, socialized medicine, like all things socialist, always leads to a loss of freedom. The Nutrition Nazis will be at your door before you know it. They will inspect your pantry and refrigerator for “banned foods.” They will question you about your “lifestyle” and force you to take tests to prove you are making “healthy choices,” choices that only they define. Modern socialism is far worse than the dystopia George Orwell dreamed up.]

“National Health Service should not treat those with unhealthy lifestyles”

Patients who refuse to change their unhealthy lifestyles should not be treated by the NHS, the Conservatives said today.

In a bid to ease spiraling levels of obesity and other health concerns, a Tory panel said certain treatments should be denied to patients who refuse to co-operate with health professionals and live healthier lifestyles.

And those who do manage to improve their general health by losing weight and quitting smoking, for example, would receive "Health Miles" cards. Points earned could then be used to pay for health-related products such as gym membership and fresh vegetables.

The aim is a shift in the NHS towards preventing disease and ill-health rather than having to treat it. The proposal was one of a raft of measures suggested in a review of public services, ordered by David Cameron.

The 200-page study, entitled Restoring Pride in Our Public Services, was carried out by the Conservative public services improvement policy group's review co-chaired by former health secretary Stephen Dorrell and leading educationalist Baroness Perry.

"It is inconsistent with the concept of the responsible citizen to imagine that it is realistic for citizens, having paid their taxes, to expect that the state will underwrite the health implications of any lifestyle decision they choose to make," the report states.

  5. I reject the liberal premise that somebody else ought to pay for my healthcare insurance. Indeed, I reject the liberal premise that somebody else ought to pay for my food or clothing or housing or college tuition or anything else.

Liberals are just freeloaders disguised as do-gooders, and that is why I reject them.

  6. Colby,
I'm exaggerating (I hope!) a bit to make a point.

As Steve and checker 5 said he wants to require everybody be in the system.
